BlackRock Challenge
At BlackRock, we aspire to be industry leaders in how we incorporate sustainability into our investment solutions. We use ESG metrics (which is the practice of incorporating Environmental, Social, and Governance information) to drive our investment decisions which ensure we are hitting the sustainability goals of our clients. We also like to encourage our employees to be more sustainable in their day-to-day lives too. For example, reducing travel related emissions, using renewable energy for our global operations and even getting our employees to stop using single use coffee cups! Every step counts to help reduce climate change.
The goal of our challenge is to create any hack that is Climate Driven. This could be the analysis of ESG metrics towards investment decisions, or just helping the average person reduce their carbon footprint. You can win Bose QuietComfort 35 (Series II) wireless headphones AND a tree planted on your behalf via Treedom

Judging Criteria
-
Innovation
At Hack Cambridge, we love to see things that we've never seen before. Whether it's a new use of an existing technology or maybe something entirely new, we want to see something that breaks boundaries. -
Technical Excellence
Good projects don't just materialize out of thin air. They require hard work and dedication and we want to see you really stretch the limits of what you are capable of. -
Polish
Getting a project completed in time for a hackathon deadline can be a real scramble. However, we want to see something that's slick and well polished. If it weren't for the context, you would think it would have taken weeks or even months to build!
